We've had a huge spamming issue here I've noticed and a lot of leeching probably as well going on. I've got a few suggestions on how to stop this problem from happening + reasons why I think they will work.

The forums are unfortunately empty a lot, not gonna point fingers and blame anybody here. A crackdown does need to happen on the spam issue and that leads me into suggestion #1

#1. IP ban the spammers and keep doing it too. Looking at the IP you can also trace them back to their ISP sometimes.

It helps cause after a while the spams can potentially slow down

#2. put a bounty on spammers

This helps esp if the bounty is a payout of treckerpoints.

Leeching most likely is an issue cause if people look in the Media section and compare view counts to reply counts you will see a very large discrepancy in views vs replies.

#1. When Phoenix gets a hide code in, I suggest a new letter minimum restriction be placed on that section. I think a 10 letter minimum post should be sufficient to thank a person for taking time to upload the media for others to enjoy

This will help keep potential posters happy

#2. Posts there should be like "thanks a lot for taking time to do this for us!" not "Thanks!!!!"

Helps cause simply put anybody who's smart knows the longer their posts are the more trecker points they gonna get.

I shouldn't be the one to suggest this one about charging per media file cause i can live off mine forever without another post but I think that it should be considered. 50 trecker points per match and 100 points for a televised show and 200 for a PPV IMO is a very fair fee because the people who posted those ESP RAW, iMPACT, ECW and all the PPVs had to pay for them, Why should people just summarily say thanks and get it free? It's not free if your being made to make intelligent posts to earn points to get the media.

Thoughts?

Thank you for the great suggestions :) !!! I had talked to Phoenix about a gil count for media, and he says we need more members first. Hopefully we will have a good amount soon, and a good hide hack. We definitely have to ban spammers, and I do so very quickly, but don't b.o.t.s. only post once and leave forever?

I'm going off the assumption that they are running off a small closter of ip addies given a lot of the ads i see are pretty much identical by various ones. not much variationhence why i think using an IP addy ban is a good idea
